Dr. Chidubem Clara Emenike is a distinguished professional with more than 35 years of progressive experience and impact. Renowned for her exemplary leadership, exceptional organizational capability, strategic foresight, and unwavering dedication to operational excellence, she has built a highly respected career advancing safety compliance, environmental stewardship, engineering governance, and sustainable energy initiatives within Nigeria’s Oil and Gas industry.
Her extensive career at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) spans senior executive roles including General Manager/Head of the Warri Refining & Petrochemical Company (WRPC), General Manager Engineering for Greenfield Refineries, and General Manager Joint Venture, Renewable Energy Division, where she led multi-disciplinary teams, directed major engineering projects, managed complex joint venture relationships, and ensured strict HSE compliance across high-risk operational environments. She has been instrumental in establishing renewable energy and biofuel partnerships, reviewing technical deliverables, coordinating large-scale project implementation, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability across diverse workforce groups.
A respected authority in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Dr. Emenike served as the HSE Manager for NIGAZ Energy Company Ltd, a strategic joint venture between NNPC and Gazprom, where she provided executive oversight for safety standards across all operations. She has also coordinated critical functions in Environmental Studies, Occupational Hazards Evaluation, and corporate HSE governance within NNPC. She has contributed significantly to national environmental initiatives, including the Ogoni pollution review, environmental compliance assessments, and oil spill remediation programmes.
Her professional foundation was built during her decade of service as a Research Fellow at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State. In this capacity, she facilitated high-level capacity development programmes, contributed to the synthesis of policy objectives for effective national policy formulation, and supported a broad range of strategic assignments for the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Dr. Emenike holds advanced academic and professional qualifications, including a Doctor of Business Administration (Oil & Gas) award, an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology, NEBOSH and British Safety Council certifications. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and member of several other professional bodies. Beyond her corporate contributions, she has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service through Rotary International. A Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, she served as the first female President of the Rotary Club of Naraguta, Jos.
