Jerome Okoye

Director

JEROME OKOYE has over two decades of proven knowledge and expertise in the field of energy project development, consultancy, advisory, business development and sales. He has worked with a diversified portfolio of companies like GE (now GE Vernova), Alstom, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, amongst others.

Currently a regional services’ sales leader for GEV in SSA, Jerome is responsible for the business development/sales of GEV products and services in Nigeria, Tchad, South Africa, Angola and other Anglo African countries. He interfaces directly with regional and global business executives to strategize and device effective measures towards meeting business and customer expectations.

Prior to joining GEV, Jerome spent over three years with Alstom (Nigeria) as a sales officer, from where he quickly rose to the position of sales and tendering manager responsible as the single sales focus for Alstom’s business in Nigeria. This successfully led to outstanding growth in revenue and optimized market share for OEM products and services, with some success in OEM. He also worked ceaselessly with the transition team to ensure a seamless transition post-acquisition of Alstom by General Electric.

Earlier roles include, serving as commercial director for Solar Energy Advanced Power Systems and as a Senior Consultant at PowerCap Limited (an energy and general consultancy company) in Nigeria. Both roles allowed extensive SSA visits for business and projects execution. At PowerCap, he executed several strategic assignments, including serving as Owner’s Engineer for the Lagos State Government on the Akute Power project for the Lagos State Water Corporation, and providing lead advisory role for the electricity network redesign and tariff review of Freetown Sierra-Leone, post-civil war.

An avid reader and published writer, he spends private time with family, playing tennis and other sports, and working with like minds towards improving the quality of life of the less privileged. As a result, he sits on the advisory team of several non-profit organizations aimed at broadening access to better education by supporting innovation, reducing barriers to entry, and building strong communities.

Jerome holds a Master’s degree in Electric Power System from the University of Lagos and a bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, both in Nigeria.
